What Makes Water Hard?
The words "hard water" describe water that contains
calcium and magnesium, the hardness minerals. Rain water begins
as soft water, free of these minerals. As rain water passes over
and through the earth, flowing into lakes, rivers, streams and
ground water, it absorbs the hardness minerals. While these minerals
aren't harmful to your health, they do affect the properties of
water and its effectiveness for washing and cleaning.
Why Hard Water Is Hard On You
Hard water can turn simple household tasks into hard work. Soaps
and laundry detergents don't lather as well. Glasses and dishes
are left with spots. Clothing feels coarser and colours look duller.
Tubs and bathroom fixtures are covered with an unsightly film.
Hard water is also tough on washing machines, making them wear
out up to 30% faster.
Why Soft Water Is Such An Advantage
Around The House
Not only does soft water turn tough cleaning
jobs into easy work, it also saves money and time. You need less
soap to get clothes and dishes clean. You can say good-bye to
annoying water scaling and soap scum as well as stubborn tub rings.
Your pipes and appliances remain stain- and clog-free, requiring
less maintenance and repair.
How Your Water Softener Turns Hard
Water
Into Soft Water
The principle behind water softening is
really just simple chemistry. A water softener contains resin
beads which hold electrically charged ions. When hard water passes
through the softener, calcium and magnesium ions are attracted
to the charged resin beads. It's the resulting removal of calcium
and magnesium ions that produces "soft water." The diagram
shows the exchange that takes place during the water softening
process.
Why Salt Is Important
When the resin beads in your softener become
saturated with calcium and magnesium ions, they need to be recharged.
Sodium ions from the water softening salt reactivate the resin
beads so they can continue to do their job. Without sufficient
softening salt, your water softener is less efficient. As a rule,
you should check your water softener once a week to be sure the
salt level is always at least one quarter full.
Windsor System Saver Pellets Make A
Big Difference In Your Water
Windsor System Saver Pellets are specially
formulated to consistently outperform other water softening salts
in all water softeners. System Saver Pellets enable your water
softener to remove almost twice as much dirt and impurities and
up to 5% more minerals from your water than plain salt pellets.
And that can mean a big difference in the quality of your water.
The filter pads shown illustrate the performance of Windsor System
Saver Pellets compared to other salt pellets.
Windsor System Saver Pellets Make A
Big Difference In Your Water Softener, Too
Hard water contains traces of dirt, iron
and other minerals that can build up in the resin and valves of
your water softener. That can lead to expensive repairs. But Windsor
System Saver Pellets are specially formulated to clean out those
traces of dirt and minerals and to help keep your softener clean
longer than all other salt pellets. System Saver Pellets are formulated
with salt that is guaranteed 99.7% pure and contains virtually
no insolubles that need to be cleaned from your brine tank. For
these reasons, Windsor backs System Saver Pellets with a total
satisfaction guarantee.
With Windsor, Your Soft Water Solution
Is In The Bag
Windsor System Saver Pellets come in a
handy 20kg. bag that's easy to lift, carry, open and pour. The
patented corner pull-tab opens just wide enough to allow salt
to pour out easily, yet enables you to regulate the flow. And
the sturdy handle makes it easy to carry. Windsor System Saver
Pellets are also available in a 25 kg and 40 kg bag.
Windsor Potassium Chloride Pellets Soften
Your Water
Windsor Potassium Chloride Pellets soften
your water while adding potassium to it. Windsor Potassium Chloride
Pellets are 99% sodium-free, therefore reducing sodium levels
in your softened water and reducing chlorides discharged into
the environment. This product also provides the essential plant
nutrient potassium to the ecosystem. Pour Windsor Potassium Chloride
Pellets into your water softener tank just like sodium chloride
pellets. Use the same amount of pellets and the same settings.
(Only softeners at the 4-pound or less setting require a slight
adjustment. Simply increase the setting by 12% i.e. at 4 pounds
increase to 4.5 pounds). |
